Field Guide : Agami Heron

$36.00

Unlimited edition. 18 x 24 inch, museum-quality poster on matte paper.

The Agami heron is more shy and retreating than most members of its family. It sticks to mangrove swamps or the dense growth around forest streams. Appropriately, “agami” means “forest bird.” This heron is a subdued riot of color, with a lot of variation depending on light; the teal blue wings glint emerald in sunlight and the deep redwood and chestnut of the neck and chest will blaze orange. This poster’s color column is based on a non-breeding adult – during courtship, an Agami heron’s face flushes red and the silvery plumes lengthen and flare.

My last name, Reiger, means heron, so I suppose it’s appropriate that the Agami heron “Field Guide” poster release marked a project milestone – the 100th featured bird!

Note: These archival poster prints feature rich, appealing colors. I encourage customers to take care in handling them until they are framed/protected for display; the darker colors on the matte paper can be scratched. They ship rolled, so customers need to flatten them before framing (or have their framer do so).

Charitable Sales Model: Whenever one of these poster prints is purchased, a charitable contribution equal to 10% of the print’s cost (or $3.60) is made to a nonprofit working to tackle environmental or social challenges. Read more about my charitable sales model here.
