Field Guide : Brant (Atlantic)

$36.00

Unlimited edition. 18 x 24 inch, museum-quality poster on matte paper.

Brant are the smallest North American goose species, but they undertake one of the longest migrations of any waterfowl species. Atlantic brant, the subspecies featured in this poster (also called the pale-bellied brant), may fly up to 7,000 miles from their breeding grounds in the Arctic Circle to over-winter on the mid-Atlantic coast, where I encountered them as a child. Like many species of goose, brant mate for life, and even travel in pairs and family groups. Because of COVID, it’s been a long while since I’ve visited my family on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and even longer since I’ve had the pleasure of watching these eelgrass and sea lettuce loving geese.

Note: These archival poster prints feature rich, appealing colors. I encourage customers to take care in handling them until they are framed/protected for display; the darker colors on the matte paper can be scratched. They ship rolled, so customers need to flatten them before framing (or have their framer do so).

Charitable Sales Model: Whenever one of these poster prints is purchased, a charitable contribution equal to 10% of the print’s cost (or $3.60) is made to a nonprofit working to tackle environmental or social challenges. Read more about my charitable sales model here.
