Sales of this particular Field Guide poster help support Ukranian refugees fleeing Putin’s attack on Ukraine.

A friend messaged me earlier this week, asking what birds have plumage that calls to mind the Ukrainian flag and national colors. Initially, tropical bird species came to mind, but I wanted to find a geographically appropriate Ukrainian representative. Enter the Eurasian blue tit. This plucky passerine occurs commonly throughout continental Europe, with a range that extends into the Ukraine and western Russia (as well as North Africa and parts of the Middle East). Incidentally, one of the bird’s nicknames in the United Kingdom is “Little Billy Biter,” a name given because of the bird’s aggressive defense of its nest; it bites and hisses at intruders in an effort to scare them away.

Note: These archival poster prints feature rich, appealing colors. I encourage customers to take care in handling them until they are framed/protected for display; the darker colors on the matte paper can be scratched. They ship rolled, so customers need to flatten them before framing (or have their framer do so).

Charitable Sales Model: Whenever one of these poster prints is purchased, a charitable contribution equal to 10% of the print’s cost (or $3.60) is made to a nonprofit working to tackle environmental or social challenges. Read more about my charitable sales model here.
