Field Guide : Mallard (Male)

$36.00

Unlimited edition. 18 x 24 inch, museum-quality poster on matte paper.

When you hear the word “duck,” odds are you picture a mallard. The adaptable dabbling duck species is widespread in the northern hemisphere and they’ve been introduced/established in some south-of-the-equator locales, as well. But their impressive numbers and range aren’t the only reasons they’re so familiar. “Greenheads” often thrive in city parks, a fact that’s earned them another, more derisive nickname: “park duck.” Think of Robert McCloskey’s beloved children’s book “Make Way For Ducklings,” which features a family of mallards living in Boston Public Garden. Unfortunately, the mallard’s very familiarity means too few of us give it a close look. We should. The breeding mallard drake is a remarkably handsome animal.

Note: These archival poster prints feature rich, appealing colors. I encourage customers to take care in handling them until they are framed/protected for display; the darker colors on the matte paper can be scratched. They ship rolled, so customers need to flatten them before framing (or have their framer do so).

Charitable Sales Model: Whenever one of these poster prints is purchased, a charitable contribution equal to 10% of the print’s cost (or $3.60) is made to a nonprofit working to tackle environmental or social challenges. Read more about my charitable sales model here.
